Recipe to try at home

Oven Fried Chicken

Crunchy, golden buttermilk chicken baked instead of fried, with all the flavor.

Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks or thighs
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed cornflakes or panko
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

Make it

  1. Soak chicken in buttermilk with half the salt for at least 30 minutes, refrigerated.
  2. Heat oven to 425°F. Mix crumbs, flour, spices and remaining salt; coat chicken and set on a rack over a sheet pan.
  3. Drizzle with butter and bake 40 to 45 minutes until crisp and 165°F at the bone.
