Savory Grits Bowl

Creamy cheddar grits topped with a soft egg, greens and hot sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups chopped kale
  • Hot sauce to serve

Make it

  1. Simmer grits in salted water, stirring often, 25 to 30 minutes until creamy; stir in butter and cheese.
  2. Saute kale in a pan with a pinch of salt until wilted. Fry eggs until whites and yolks are set.
  3. Spoon grits into bowls and top with kale, an egg and hot sauce.
